Gail Mayfield Powers

Mrs. Powers, the wife of Johnny Powers of Middleton, departed this life on Sunday morning, August 29, 2021 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.

The daughter of the late E. A. Mayfield, Jr. and Ruby Mainers Mayfield, she was born in Hardeman County and lived all her life here. She married Mr. Johnny Powers on November 25, 1970 and had worked previously at Harman Automotive and Kilgore. Her remaining years were spent as a homemaker. She was a member of New Union Baptist Church and had previously attended Piney Grove Baptist, her home church, where she helped each year with their VBS.

She was a 1965 graduate of Bolivar Central High School and in her leisure time enjoyed crafting, flower gardening and arranging, cooking and traveling. She is described by her family as a woman who was always looking for ways to give to others whether through church or one on one with another person.

In addition to her husband of over 50 years, she is survived by her daughter, Méchelle Powers of Middleton; her son, Rickey Powers of Middleton; a sister, Tammy Faye Mayfield of Bolivar; and a brother, Glenn Mayfield (Gail) of Cross Plains, TN.

She was also preceded in death by a brother, Don Mayfield.
