Gary Dewayne Kilburn was born February 9, 1952 in South Bend, IN and departed this life Saturday, August 31, 2019 in Florence, AL. He was born to Willie Paul and Charlene Riedout Kilburn and was preceded in death by his father, Willie Paul and a brother, Ricky Lane Kilburn.
He is survived by his mother, Charlene Kilburn of Florence, AL; siblings, Paulette Steele, husband, William of Granger, IN and Kevin Kilburn of Florence, AL; nephew, William Steele, III (Amy) of Mishawaka, IN; niece, Ashley Andrews (Timothy) of Osceola, IN; great-nieces, Hannah, Amelia and Lydia Steele and Emerald and Amethyst Andrews all of whom adored him and loved to face time with him and his beloved dog, Brownie and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends.
Gary was a machinist and a meticulous carpenter by trade. His greatest love was music. He was a very talented musician, singer and accomplished guitarist. Gary let his talents shine through by playing in churches. He was a member of several country bands in Indian, Michigan, Tennessee and Alabama throughout the years.
In spite of his strong sense of survival, his battle with throat cancer is now over. We, his family, know his pain and suffering is over. We rest with the assurance that we will join him in eternal life.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, September 3, 2019 at 1 pm at Shackelford Funeral Directors chapel, Collinwood, TN with Ronnie McKissack officiating. Burial will be in Lutts Cemetery, Lutts, TN with Shackelford Funeral Directors, Wayne County assisting the family. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 3, 2019 from 11 am to service time at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be William Steele, Jr., Williams Steele, III, Marshal White, Danny Kilburn, Johnathon Reece and Greg Kilburn.
