Mrs. Gayle Marie Hobbs, age 62 of Middleton, Tennessee, passed away at her home on Monday evening, May 18, 2015.
She was born in Memphis, the daughter of Bill and Jewell Shannon Johnson, who survive. She was a former resident of Murray, KY, Fulton, MS and Kenton, TN. Gayle was a graduate of Callaway County High School in Murray and, on August 24, 1971, was united in marriage to Barney Thomas Hobbs.
In 1982, they moved to Middleton. Both were active members of the Middleton Church of Christ, where Gayle taught the nursery and 3rd/4th graders for many years. Mr. Hobbs passed away on February 25, 1999. Mrs. Hobbs was employed in the Hardeman County School System as a teacher's assistant in both Bolivar and Middleton. An avid baseball fan, she kept the scoring book for Middleton Middle School's basketball teams for several years. She also worked for the Bolivar Bulletin as a photographer covering sporting events. In her leisure time, she loved and took care of her family, and enjoyed gardening, yard work, and traveling to Disney World with her family.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by a daughter, Rebecca Gayle Hobbs (Allan) Frazier of Brilliant, AL; three sons, Barney Thomas (Lasha) Hobbs, Jr. of Middleton, Jeremy Hobbs of Middleton, and Cory (Ragon) Hobbs of Arlington; two sisters, Denise McLemore of Selma, AL, and Dianne Morgan of Noblesville, IN; seven grandchildren, Regan Taylor Hobbs, Trae Hobbs, Tyson Hobbs, Molly Kate Hobbs, Easton Hobbs, Mallory Hobbs, and Max Hobbs; two great-grandchildren, Alaka and Amaury Turner; and two step-grandchildren, Bridgette (Larry) Ware and Amber Frazier.
