Gene E. Bevis departed this life on Friday, July 12, 2019, at the age of 80 years, 1 month, and 20 days. He was born in Hardin County, Tennessee on May 22, 1939, the son of the late George Jackson Bevis and Sarah Emeline Benson Bevis. On April 6, 1963, he was united in marriage to Mary Franks, who survives.
Gene had worked for the City of Savannah and was a farmer. He enjoyed his horses and cattle, cutting hay and farming. He loved being outdoors and enjoyed talking to people.
In addition to his wife, Mary of Adamsville, Tennessee, Gene is survived by his sons, Charles Brown and Gene Brown; sisters, Hazel Holloway and Molly Word; two grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; and close friend, Tony Moore.
Along with his parents, Gene was preceded in death by a son, Gene Edward Bevis, Jr.; brothers, Clarence Bevis, Walter Bevis, and Ernest Bevis; and sisters, Effie Stricklin, Elsie Franks, Delsie Holcomb, and Deloise Bevis.
