Geneva Brown Moore George

Geneva Brown Moore George was born June 9, 1926 in McNairy County, TN the daughter of the late James Earl and Mary Lydia Tedford Brown.

Geneva was united in marriage to Clifford W. Moore, who preceded her in death on April 19, 1986. She was later married to General George, who also preceded her in death on August 15, 2008.

Mrs. George was a graduate of Michie High School and Northeast Mississippi Community College School of Nursing. She retired from McNairy County General Hospital in Selmer, where she worked as an operating room and emergency room supervisor. She was a member of the Pilot Club, the Selmer Book Club, R.S.V.P., and the Order of the Eastern Star, having previously served as the Grand Worthy Matron. Knitting and crocheting were among her hobbies. Mrs. George was a faithful member of Trinity Baptist Church, where she had served as the pianist and organist for many years.

Mrs. George departed this life on September 10, 2017 in Michie, Tennessee at the age of 91 Years, 3 Months, 1 Day. She is survived by two sons, Barry Moore and wife Gale and Michael Moore and wife Judy, all of Michie, TN; a step-daughter, Charlotte Garrison and husband Paul; two step-sons, Robert George and Keith George; five grandchildren: Carrie Barksdale and husband Ray, Beth Taylor and husband Shane, Jenny Collins and husband Clay, Amanda South and husband Bobby, Heather Reynolds and husband Chad; eleven great-grandchildren: Ginny Beth Barksdale, Jake Barksdale, Allen Barksdale, Abby Taylor, Jack Taylor, Cooper Collins, Fisher Collins, Branson South, Maddie Beth South, Lydia Grace Reynolds, Ella Claire Reynolds; two sisters, Dorothy Burks and husband Charles of Michie, TN and Rebecca Doles and husband Johnny of Corinth, MS; a brother, Robert E. Brown and wife Joyce of Ramer, TN; and many extended family and friends.

In addition to her parents and husbands, Mrs. George was preceded in death by two sisters, Juanita Burks and Patricia Dickerson; and a brother, Billy Neal Brown.

The family wishes to say a special thank you to Dr. William Bartz, Legacy Hospice, and all those who so lovingly provided care for Mrs. George. Your acts of kindness and compassionate service will always be remembered and appreciated.
