Georgie Mills, 96, of Bolivar, passed away Monday, August 17, 2020 in Florence, Alabama.
The widow of Roy L. Mills, who died on May 20, 1967, she worked at and retired from Coleman's BBQ. She was born Sunday, December 23, 1923 in Hardeman County, daughter of the late George Truman Vaughan and Mary Taylor Vaughan, living most of her life here. She spent about 10 years in Pinson and the last 3 years in Florence, Alabama with her son, George. She enjoyed crocheting and was a member of Walnut Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Margaret Jean Wilkerson of Bartlett and Queen Elizabeth Burnett (Bruce) of Pinson; a son, George Mills (Joy) of Florence, AL; two sisters, Lucille Wiggins and Margarette Wilson, both of Bolivar; 8 grandchildren, Roy Mills, Jimbo Mills, David Mills, Chris Burnett, Sherry Sipes, Cheri Fisher, Sabrina Mayfield and Joseph Wilkerson; 19 great grandchildren, and multiple great great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, James Mills in 2006; three brothers, Lester, Dorris and Buddy Vaughan; a grandchild, Margaret Smith; a great grandchild, Jeremy Smith and a sister, Frances Hodge.
When attending visitation or services for Mrs. Mills, please consider the following guidelines:
* Maintain 6 feet between yourself and the next closest person;
* Refrain from hugs and handshakes;
* When you sneeze or cough, use your elbow to cover your nose and mouth;
* Wash your hands often;
* Avoid touching your face; and
* Minimize time spent in places where people gather.
