Gerrald Wayne Casteel was born March 22, 1946 in Wayne County, TN the son of the late Jim and Reba Casteel.
He was united in marriage to Shirley Creekmore on December 31, 1983.
Following his graduation from Wayne County High School, Mr. Casteel entered the United States Marine Corps. He served six years and completed multiple tours of duty in Vietnam from 1966 to 1972, attaining the rank of Sergeant. After returning to the States Mr. Casteel spent a short time in Texas before returning to Hardin County, TN. He worked as a truck driver for Aqua Glass, Tom Bigbee, and Cardinal Transportation before retiring. Hunting deer and woodworking were two of his favorite activities. Mr. Casteel was a member of the Mt. Sharon Presbyterian Church.
Mr. Casteel departed this life on November 15, 2020 in Stantonville, Tennessee at the age of 74 Years, 7 Months, 24 Days. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Shirley (Creekmore) Casteel of Stantonville, TN; four daughters: Sherry Sweat and husband Steve of Stantonville, TN, Darlene Mancil and husband Mark of Walnut Grove, TN, Terri Pope and husband Chris of Waynesboro, TN, and Melissa Casteel of Savannah, TN; two sons, Roger Pickens of Hardin County, TN and Jerry Wayne Casteel of Savannah, TN; ten grandchildren: Skyler Sweat of Selmer, TN, Sayer Sweat and wife Shelby of Adamsville, TN, Toby Pickens of Savannah, TN, Kelsey Pickens of Savannah, TN, Phillip Pope and wife Samantha of Clifton, TN, Steven Pope of Waynesboro, TN, Bailey Casteel of Waynesboro, TN, James Nathaniel Wayne Casteel of Savannah, TN, Lannie Mae Casteel of Savannah, TN, and Damien White of Savannah, TN; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jimmy Casteel and wife Cathy, and Gary Don Casteel and wife Cathy, all of Waynesboro, TN; and many extended family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Casteel was preceded in death by a brother, Johnny Casteel; a half-brother, Franklin Casteel; and a half-sister, Reba Nell Casteel.
