Gladys Louise Durham

Mrs. Durham passed from this life early Friday morning at Forest Cove Nursing Home in Jackson.

She was the widow of Fred Timmons Durham who died on Saturday, August 19, 1989. She and Mr. Durham were united in marriage on Thursday, January 22, 1942. Mrs. Durham was born in Rogers Springs, TN to the late George and Maudie Mae Robinson Harris.

She had lived a short time in Arkansas and spent several years in Memphis before returning to live in Hardeman County in 1970. While in Memphis, she was an active member of Charjean Baptist Church where she was always in Sunday School and worked in the church's WMU and VBS programs. While in this area, she and her husband were members of Dixie Hills Baptist Church where Mr. Durham served as a deacon. In her leisure time, she loved being outdoors working in her garden or her yard.

She leaves two daughters, Gladys Sharp of Brownsville and Shirley Jackson of Bolivar; one son, Jerry Durham of Saulsbury; three sisters, Ruby Cox of Bartlett, Donnie Eubanks of Lepanto, AR and Mildred Sexton of Flint, MI; one brother, Marshall Harris of Lasalle, IL; two grandchildren, Jason (Lil) Stacks and Holly (Matt) Crook; five great-grandchildren, Micheal Joe (Amy) Jackson, Emily and Abbie Stacks, Drayden and Ethan Crook; and two great-great-grandchildren, Alexander and Austin Jackson.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Mike Jackson; sister, Earline Stone; and brother, George L. Harris.

While visiting or attending services for Mrs. Durham, please consider the following guidelines:

* Maintain 6 feet between yourself and the next closest person;
* Refrain from hugs and handshakes;
* When you sneeze or cough, use your elbow to cover your nose and mouth;
* Wash your hands often;
* Avoid touching your face; and
* Minimize time spent in places where people gather.
