Glen Wray
PINSON, TN; Mr. Glen Lee Wray of Pinson, age 79, passed away at his home on June 30, 2019.
Mr. Wray was born on October 14, 1939 in Madison County and grew up in Crockett County, the son of the late John Lee and Lessie Dixon Wray. He married Carolyn Capps on November 17, 1962. They made their home in Pinson. He worked at the Bemis Cotton Mill and Piggly Wiggly Corporation. Glen and Carolyn served as house parents at Youth Town of Tennessee Pinson campus. He was a faithful member and deacon at Pinson Baptist Church, where he also served as an usher. They enjoyed doing custodial work at the church. He enjoyed hunting coon and squirrels, gardening and keeping his yard neat.
Glen is survived by his two daughters, Renee Wray of Pinson, Tammy Wray of Pinson; four brothers, Nelson Wray of Henderson, Calvin Wray of Jackson, Billy Wray of Jackson and Roger Wray of Jackson; three sisters, Artelia Cunningham of Jackson, Rachel Glover of Greenwood, Indiana, and Lettie Holder of Jackson; and one honorary granddaughter, Holly Hall Rogers.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife and three brothers, Jesse Wray, Johnny Wray, and Paul Wray.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Wednesday, July 3 at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Henderson – Crook Avenue Chapel with Jimmy Burroughs and Thomas Leach officiating. Burial will follow in Bear Creek Methodist Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday.
