Grace Webb Holland age 89 years, 11 mos, 9 days, was born January 25, 1925 in Gibson County TN. The daughter of Samuel "Boss" and Lillian Weatherspoon Tharp. She died January 3rd at her home in Selmer, TN.
She was united in marriage to Daniel C. Webb on December 23, 1941. After 57 years of marriage, Mr. Webb preceded her in death on August 29, 1999. Grace found love once again when she married Cleo Holland on January 7, 2006 and he preceded her in death on June 18, 2012.
In addition to her husbands and parents, Mrs. Holland was preceded in death by four sisters and three brothers. She is survived by one sister Florine Tidwell of Humboldt TN and a Brother Harold (Vivian) Tharp of Maury City TN and Kathleen Tharp of Jackson TN. She is also survived by her daughter with whom she lived, Doris Reece of Selmer TN and son Daniel C. Webb, JR. (Judy) of Kemah, Texas. Five grandchildren: Charlotte (Randy) Montgomery of Munford TN, Rev. Crystal G. Reece of The Kingdom of Tonga South Pacific, Coy Webb, Cody Webb and Amber Webb all who reside in Texas. There are six great grandchildren, Candace (Josh) Teerman, Lawrence Montgomery, Madison, Andrew, Jack and Daniel Webb, and a multitude of extended Tharp, Webb and Holland family members.
Mrs. Holland was a member of The Springs United Pentecostal Church in Bethel Springs TN. and while married to Cleo Holland they attended Calvary Ministries of Jackson TN. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to all she met.
In 1941 Grace moved to Bemis TN and worked at the local cotton mill. Later when she moved to Memphis she worked for Lowenstein department store and Landau Uniforms. For 36 years Grace served as church secretary at The First United Pentecostal Church in Memphis TN. Also while in Memphis she was an active member and secretary of the Cooper Young Community Watch Program. After moving to Selmer in 1998 she earned her GED at the age of 74 and began working at Bethel Springs Elementary School in the American Reads program. She leaves a multitude of special friends throughout West Tennessee and the surrounding areas.
