Gregory Lee Skaggs

Gregory Lee Skaggs of Iron City, TN, was born December 27, 1973 in Florence, AL. He was united in marriage to Bonita Rosalita Cathcart on February 14, 2010. Mr. Skaggs was a disabled lumber stacker and was of the Freewill Baptist faith.

Mr. Skaggs departed this life on Friday, February 7, 2014 at E. C. M. Hospital in Florence, Alabama at the age of 40 Years, 1 Month, 11 Days.

He is survived by his wife, Bonita Rosalita Cathcart Skaggs; a son, Alexander Gregory Lee Skaggs; daughters, Diamond Nichol Marie Skaggs and fiancee, Tyler Hensley; and Tressa Cheyenne Liegh Skaggs and fiancee, Tyler Foster all of Iron City, TN; mother and step-father, Sharon and Ricky Newton of St. Joseph, TN; father and step-mother, Larry and Janice Skaggs of Florence, AL;a sister, Betty Joy Skaggs Brewer and husband, Matthew of Cypress Inn, TN; grandfather, Dalton Skaggs of Collinwood, TN; mother-in-law, Maria Carmen Cathcart of Marissa, IL; sister-in-law, Lita Cathcart; brother-in-law, David Jose Cathcart; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and other in-laws.

He is preceded in death by two brothers, Gary Dewayne and Jason Warren Skaggs; Grandparents, Buford Scott and Ella Marie Cummins Butler and Vinnie Stults Skaggs.

Services will be Thursday, February 13, 2014 at 1:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Directors chapel, Collinwood, Tennessee. Burial will follow in Jackson Cemetery, Cypress Inn, Tennessee with Shackelford Funeral Directors, Wayne County, directing. Pallbearers will be Allen Pulley, Tyler Hensley, Tyler Foster, Brian Lowery, Skyler Skaggs, Scotty Skaggs, Justin Campbell, and Timbo Ary. Honorary pallbearers will be Alex Skaggs, Lucas Stamps, Alex Pulley, Seth Lowery, Nick Coppock, andHunter Kelsey.

Visitation will be Wednesday, February 12, 2014 from 6 pm to 9 pm and Thursday, February 13, 2014 from 9 am until service time at the funeral home.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given at the Wayne County Bank in Collinwood, TN.
