Hardy Barclay Mitchell

June 6, 1940 — May 10, 2020

Hardy Barclay Mitchell formerly of Scobey, MS was born June 6, 1940 in Mississippi the son of the late John Wash Mitchell and Mavis Nabors Mitchell.

Mr. Mitchell served our country in the U. S. Army Reserve for six years. He was united in marriage to Glenda Faye Marlow on April 17, 1976. He worked in the garment manufacturing industry, becoming a production manager before retiring. He worked for McGregor in Winona, MS and Rienzi Manufacturing in Rienzi for about 15 years. In 1996, he and his wife Glenda moved to Costa Rica where he was employed by Prentiss Manufacturing. After living and working there for two years they returned to the States. He and Glenda loved to travel, both within the United States and abroad. He was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Selmer.

Mr. Mitchell departed this life on May 10, 2020 in Selmer, Tennessee at the age of 79 Years, 11 Months, 4 Days.

He is survived by his children: John R. Mitchell and wife Sommer of Pulaski, TN; Carol Marlow and husband Gayle of Alva, MS; Julia Thomas and husband Lynn of Guys, TN; Randy B. Mitchell and wife Cheryl of Petal, MS; 13 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; sisters, Merita Tapley and husband Clarence of Senatobia, MS and Carolyn Martin of Grenada, MS; and a host of other family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Glenda Mitchell on June 30, 2018; his parents, John Wash Mitchell and Mavis Nabors Mitchell; and a brother, Gary Mitchell.
