Harold Dean Oliver

Mr. Oliver departed this life on Monday afternoon, March 7, 2022, at Christian Care Center in Bolivar.
He was born in Union City, TN to the late Franklin Grover and Mattie Maydell Luten Oliver. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Frank Lucas Oliver. He had lived in Middleton for a total of eight years.
Mr. Oliver was united in marriage to the former Patsy Irene Helton on November 23, 1965 and served his country in the US Army where earned distinction as a radar technician and sharpshooter. He worked as an automotive mechanic for Collierville Import Center and was a former tractor trailer driver.
In his leisure time, Harold Dean enjoyed drag racing and also had been the pace car driver for Memphis International Raceway. He enjoyed racing all over the area including in Holly Springs, Dresden and Jackson. Described by his family as a kind and gentle soul, he never met a stranger and loved talking to and making friends with little children. One of his favorite pastimes was enjoying a big bowl of ice cream.
He leaves his wife of 56 years, Patsy I. Oliver; four daughters, Sandy Gail Tatum, Andrea Lynn Watkins, Rhonda Ann Todd and Christina Marie Helton; ten grandchildren, Kristofer Bowers, Candace Tatum, Amber Craft, Jacob Watkins, Colton Watkins, Kristen Adkinson, Kasey Adkinson, Chelsea Rogers, Melanie Rogers and Skyler Nichols; eight great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Laura Thorn and Sara Burress.
