Hassell Hardin was born in Hardin County, Tennessee on July 9, 1934, the son of the late Thomas Hassell and Hattie May Ferrell Hardin. On October 14, 1955, he was united in marriage to Mary Lou Battles, who survives. Hassell departed this life on November 14, 2019, at the age of 85 years, 4 months, and 5 days.
Hassell was an avid camper and RV enthusiast. He enjoyed racing cars, watching NASCAR, gardening, and working outdoors.
In addition to his wife, Mary, of 64 years, Hassell is survived by his daughter, Patricia Hardin Mathis and husband Richard, all of Paducah, Kentucky; son, Ricky Hardin and wife Janet of Atlanta, Georgia; sisters, Katherine Ray and Blanche Warren, both of Memphis, Tennessee; brother, Adley Hardin of Clifton, Tennessee; grandchildren, Andrea Ray, Nicholas, Hailee, Christopher, Matthew, Chandler, Caleb, and Lindsey; great grandchildren, Gracelyn, Jacob, Mya, Kensley, Lincoln, Johnny, Benjamin, and Dylan; and one great great grandchild, Evander.
Along with his parents, Hassell was preceded in death by his brother, Billy Hardin.
