Helen M. Hopper, age 89, of Pocahontas, TN, passed away Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at her home.
The widow of Henry C. Hopper, Sr., who died on March 22, 2006 after 60 years of marriage, she had previously worked as a police officer in Shelby County, with the Sears store in Memphis, and lastly worked for Dixie Printing in Middleton. She was born Thursday, May 17, 1928, in Memphis, daughter of the late Milton and Lena Mae Judd Gibson and lived in Memphis and California, prior to moving to Hardeman County in 1983. She enjoyed fishing, sewing and working puzzles, but it made her day to be able to talk to her sisters on the phone. Her family states that she loved them dearly and was very devoted to her church family at County Line Baptist Church, witnessing to everyone she could about God.
Survivors include two sons, Henry C. "Hank" Hopper, Jr. (Gail) of Middleton and James W. "Peanut" Hopper (Judy) of Pocahontas; two brothers, Dwayne Gibson (Jeanette) of Hollister, MO and Jerry Gibson (Kitty Carol) of Pocahontas; two sisters, Reader Peterson of Hollister, MO and Marie Harris (Gary) of California; 13 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Lena Sue Rapp and Rebecca Henrietta Chellette. The family requests memorial donations in her name be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
