LANNY DAVIS
Jackson, TN: Hollis Lanny Davis age 70 passed away November 11, 2018 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
He was born November 20, 1947 in Hardin County, TN the son of the late Harbert Hollis (H.H.) Davis and Agnes Blackstock Davis. He grew up near Sardis, TN and graduated from Savannah High School. He married Virginia Lee Smith on July 8, 1967. He worked at the U.T. Agricultural Experiment Station for fifty one years, (Nov. 4, 1967 until Nov. 11, 2018), last serving as Senior Plot Caretaker. He was best known for accurately forecasting the weather for 101.5 Radio Station in Jackson. He was called Master Forecaster and Chairman of the Weather Board Room.
He loved gardening and was a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team.
He loved the Lord and attended Gospel Singings. He was a member of the Victory Worship Center in Jackson.
Mr. Davis is survived by two sons, Greg L. Davis (Leigh Anne) of Alabaster, AL and Tracy Davis (Carla) of Jackson; a daughter Regina Foutch (Glenn) of Olive Branch, MS; grandchildren, Rebecca Foutch Norton (Nathan), Savannah Foutch, Ethan Foutch, Holden Foutch, William Foutch, Jackson Foutch, Aaron Davis, John Davis, Noah Davis, Joseph Davis and Madison Davis and two great grandchildren, Peyton Higgins and Addie Leigh Norton; a sister, Linda Davis of Selmer and a girlfriend Elizabeth Austin of Lexington.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Gloria Jean Davis.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Sunday at Shackelford Funeral Directors – East Main Chapel with Dr. J.P. Stovall officiating. Burial will follow in Milledgeville Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at East Main 5 PM until 8 PM on Saturday and from 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM Sunday.
