Hugh Mainers
Pinson, TN: Hugh Allen Mainers, age 79, of the Deanburg Community, died early Friday morning at Jackson General Hospital.
Mr. Mainers was born and reared in the Deanburg Community of Chester County, the son of the late Hugh Ellis and Tressie Clarice Thomas Mainers. He attended Chester County schools and served in the Tennessee National Guard and farmed with his father as a young man. He worked as a surveyor for the Tennessee Hwy Department for 40 years.
He loved to coon hunt, raise dogs, and was a member of the Medon Coon Hunters. He enjoyed Tennessee walking horses and riding four wheelers. He was a sports fan, particularly UT football.
He is survived by two daughters; Sonia Thomas and husband Doug of Henderson and Tonya Brittain and husband Bobby of Beech Bluff, five grandchildren; Cameron Thomas, Kaitlyn Thomas, Kyle Thomas, Blake Jaggars, and Brett Welch, three great grandchildren; Tatum Jaggars, Reagan, Thomas, and Easton Thomas, a brother Clifton Mainers of Pinson and two sisters; Louise McKinnie of Memphis and Shirley Mainers of Deanburg.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Travis Mainers, and four sisters; Peggy Mainers, Betty Hikcs, Joyce Mainers, and Faye Suddreth.
Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Monday at Shackelford – Crook Avenue with Charlie Crouthers officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Springs Cemetery at Deanburg.
The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue beginning at 5:00 PM Sunday and again Monday until funeral time
