Inetha Smith Sowell
Mrs. Suley Inetha Smith Sowell, age 79, passed away Saturday night at her home in Jackson.
She was born and reared in Chester County, the daughter of the late James Wesley and Sarah Irene Maness Smith. She attended school in Chester County. She married Douglas Sowell in 1961. They lived in Michigan and then Jackson for about 40 years. She worked at Oakley Fashions and then at Jackson General. She worked in environmental services and was very caring and compassionate towards her patients.
She shared a crocheted flower with every new patient on her floor.
She retired in 2007.
She is survived by her husband, Douglas McArthur Sowell of Jackson; two sisters, Betty Smith of Henderson and Elizabeth Cothren of Jackson; two grandchildren, Jennifer Estes and Robert Estes; and six great grandchildren, Taylor Estes, Brylee Estes, Brayden Johnson, Ethan Estes, Kutler Estes and Harley Bailey.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Carlene Austin Estes; brother, Luke Smith; and a sister, Katheryn Hancock.
Funeral services will be 12 noon Tuesday at the First United Pentecostal Church of Lexington with Bro. Bobby Beecham officiating. Burial will follow at Cave Springs Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5 PM to 8 PM Monday at Shackelford Funeral Directors Crook Avenue Chapel in Henderson and again from 10 AM until 12 Noon service time Tuesday at the church.
