Mrs. Hopkins passed away Tuesday afternoon at her home. She was the widow of Mr. Dewey Hopkins who died June 29, 2018.
A native of Tippah County, MS, she had lived the last 30-40 years in Hardeman County. Mrs. Hopkins was the daughter of the late Charlie Parker James and Florence Jackson James. On September 15, 1960, she was married to Arthur P. "Dewey" Hopkins and she had attended Hatchie Baptist Church. Primarily a homemaker in recent years, she also had worked for Spectrum Corporation. Favorite pastimes included caring for her family and her pet dogs, but especially her "grandbabies".
She leaves a daughter, Vicki Renfro of Hornsby; a son, Tony Hopkins of Hornsby; two sisters, Arlene (Jimmy Dale) Hopkins of Falkner, MS and Helen Orman of Walnut; two brothers, Benny James of Falkner and Charlie James, Jr. of Mt. Pleasant, MS; four grandchildren, Felicia Hopkins, Shelby Golden, Lauren Hopkins and Kristen Renfro; and three great-grandchildren, Tabitha Lambert, Tony Lambert and Jace Smith.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, David Wayne and Freddy Dale Hopkins; two sisters, Faye Burns of Moscow, TN and an infant sister, Emily Mae James; and two brothers, Edward James of Herriman, TN and Jerald Winston "J. W." James of Falkner.
