Mr. Helton, age 77, of Middleton, passed from this life on Wednesday morning, October 2, 2019, at the Bolivar General Hospital.
He was born on Friday, August 14, 1942 in Brownsville, TN to the late Aussy and Ruby Cole Helton. On Wednesday, October 19, 1966, he was united in marriage to the former Sylvia Kay Kupfner. Mrs. Helton passed away on Friday, November 25, 2005 following 39 years of marriage. He had lived in Hardeman County since 1986 and previously lived in Oakland, TN and Memphis.
Mr. Helton was a self-employed flooring contractor and, in his leisure time, was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. He also enjoyed gardening and planting flowers. He worked with cattle and, at one time, had his own dairy farm in Texas.
He leaves two daughters, Cindy Grantham and her husband, Darren, of Bolivar and Melissa Overton and her husband, John, of Toone; two step-sons, Robert Helton and his wife, Sue, of Arlington, TN and William "Bubba" Helton of Jackson; two sisters, Joann Watson of Flint, MI and Pat Oliver of Middleton; four brothers, C. H. and Bill Helton, both of Middleton, Tommy Helton of Southaven, MS and Jamie Helton of Jackson; eight grandchildren, Justin, Crystal, Derek and April Helton, Brian and Victoria Overton, Daniel and Nate Grantham; and one great-granddaughter, Dallas Gene Grantham.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Shirley Daughtery, Ruby Bowman, Frances and Little Ruby Helton (infant); and one brother, Bob Helton.
