JACOB A. ROUSE, SR.
Henderson, TN: Jacob Aster Rouse, Sr. age 83, passed away July 24, 2022 at his home.
He was born November 10, 1938 in Chester County in the Plainview Community, the son of the late John Wesley Bishop and Toker Rouse. He attended Chester County Schools. He entered the U.S. Navy in 1957 and served on the USS Navarro out of Long Beach, California as quartermaster or navigation, and returned in 1961.
He married Carolyn Matthews in 1964. He began working with TVA in 1965 as a groundman building transmission lines. He was supervisor of building transmission towers and later was a heavy equipment operator until he retired in 1993. They had always made their home in Chester County in the Jacks Creek Community.
He is a retired member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.
Mr. Rouse is survived by his wife, Carolyn Ann Matthews Rouse of Henderson; a son, Jacob A. “Jay” Rouse Jr. of Henderson and two daughters, Lorrie Ann Ashbrook (David) of Henderson and Lisa Annette Russell of Jackson; three grandchildren and ten great grandchildren; four sisters, Lois Jean Bishop and Mildred Faye Goodwin both of Henderson, Barbara Ann Flatt of Logansport, IN and Kathy Lou Vann of Pinson.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Sylvia Louise Johnson and Frances Vann.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Friday at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue with Ken Frye officiating. Burial will follow in Old Friendship Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Thursday.
