Bud Cupples: Finger TN
James Carlos “Bud” Cupples was born May 27, 1927 in Chester County, TN, son of the late Eli Finley and Ida Melissa Cupples. He departed this life on March 9, 2019 at his daughter’s home in Lewisburg, TN at age 91.
Bud worked at various jobs over the years. He was a pastor in the Church of God for several congregations. He and his brother R.E. Cupples also ran the Gulf Station in Henderson for a time. He also worked at the Bemis Cotton Mill as a doffer for 20 years.
He married Rachel Ann Holmes on May 18, 1962 and they enjoyed 56 years together. He kept Beagle hounds and loved to hunt rabbits and squirrels.
He is survived by his wife Rachel Cupples of Finger, two sons Dennis Guy Cupples of Dyer, TN and Carlton Dewayne Cupples and wife Nora of Yuma, TN; two daughters Sherry Ann Cooper and husband Jimmy of Humboldt, TN and Demetrius Unay Pinchek of Lewisburg, TN; 10 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, R.E. Cupples and two sisters Mary Kay Johnson and Otie Askew.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, March 12, at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Henderson’s East Main Chapel with Aaron Moss and Ronnie Geary officiating. Burial will follow in Owens Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the East Main Chapel on Monday, March 11 from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
