Mr. Stewart, age 92, of Middleton, departed this life on Sunday, August 7, 2022, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
A native and long-time resident of Middleton, he was the son of the late Will Dewey and Hattie Athalia McBride Stewart. He married the former Pauline Nelms on December 28, 1955 with her passing following 65 years of marriage on September 19, 2021.
Mr. Stewart was retired from Armour Foods in Memphis (where he lived for 10 years) and from Dover Elevators in Middleton. He was a life-long farmer. It was there he enjoyed tending to his cattle and chickens. He was a member of the Middleton church of Christ.
He leaves two daughters, Paula Pickens of Jackson and Judy (Keith) Williams of Piperton; three sisters, Mackye Hosse of Memphis, Brenda James of Baldwyn, MS and Jeanette Harrell of Walnut, MS; four grandchildren, Ragon (Cory) Hobbs of Arlington, TN, Clint Cox of Middleton, Brooke (Brad) McNutt of Moulton, AL and Sara (Travis) Heflin of Niceville, FL; and six great-grandchildren, Mallory and Max Hobbs, Drew, Conner and Reed McNutt and Graham Heflin.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by seven sisters, Christine Stewart, Vivian Geer, Dorothy Williams, Faye Gullett, Glenda Luttrell, Verlon Baker and Mary Elizabeth Vincent; and one brother, Delbert Stewart.
