James Edwin Jerrolds, Sr. was born on February 6, 1949 in Wayne County, Tennessee, the son of the late Jimmy Jerrolds, Sr. and Jessie Mae Cole Jerrolds. On December 22, 1970, he was united in marriage to Betty Jane Stricklin Jerrolds, who survives. James Edwin Jerrolds departed this life on April 2, 2019, at the age of 70 years, 1 month, and 27 days.
James served his country in the United States Marines for 22 years. Following his service, he worked for the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs for 15 years, Tennessee Department of Veteran Affairs for 5 years, and as a Hardin County Veterans Officer for 1 year. He was a member of the Military Officers Association, National Rifle Association, and Disabled American Veterans. James enjoyed fishing, collecting Indian Arrowheads, woodworking, and home construction.
Along with his wife of 48 years, Betty, he is survived by his son, James Jerrolds, Jr. and his wife Elizabeth of Hendersonville, Tennessee; siblings, Jimmy Frank Jerrolds, Jr. of Savannah, Tennessee, Juanita Elmore and husband Douglas of Halls, Tennessee, Joseph Mitchell Jerrolds of Savannah, Tennessee, Jeffrey E. Jerrolds of Olive Hill, Tennessee, Jay Allen Jerrolds of Iuka, Mississippi, Janis Christine Elbrink of Waycross, Georgia, Joyce Elaine Holloman of Boone, North Carolina, Joel Keith Jerrolds of Boone, North Carolina, and Jacqueline Kluver of Omaha, Nebraska; and grandchildren, Chloe, Spencer, and Dari Briton Jerrolds.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his siblings, Jerry Thomas Jerrolds, Jesse Jerrolds, and Janet Jerrolds.
