James graduated from Alpena High School in Alpena, Michigan. As a young man, James worked for TruGreen in Michigan. James enjoyed mowing lawns, nurturing landscaping, cleaning leaves, laying sod, pruning trees, cutting firewood, and shoveling snow. James also loved old country music. During his time on the road, he enjoyed listening to the Dave Nemo show and Dale Sommers “Truckin Bozo”. He was also a member of OOIDA for many years and Henderson Church of Christ.

James battled cancer for the last 3 years. During his battle, he remained strong, positive, and courageous. James often stated he hoped to be cancer free one day. Although his physical body lost its battle to cancer, James won his eternal reward.
