Janice Ann Butler Cooksey was born on November 9, 1943, the daughter of the late James and Nell Butler. On April 27, 1964, she was united in marriage to James Ronald (Ronnie) Cooksey, who survives. Jan departed this life on July 21, 2019, at the age of 75 years, 8 months, and 12 days.
Jan was of the Baptist belief and was a member of the North Side Assembly of God in Jackson, Tennessee. She was a member of the Jackson Humane Society and the president of the Professional Women's Club in Jackson, Tennessee. Before retiring, she worked for Kelly Foods in Jackson, Tennessee for 34 years. Jan enjoyed square dancing, camping, fishing, dog sitting, and vacationing.
In addition to her husband, Ronnie, of 55 years, Jan is survived by her nieces, Tina Cooksey and Tina Presley of Morris Chapel, Tennessee; nephew, Jonathan Cooksey and his wife Heather of Reagan, Tennessee; great niece, Josie Cooksey of Reagan, Tennessee; uncles, Raymond (Dot) Butler of Adamsville, Tennessee and Gene Butler of Morris Chapel, Tennessee; and cousins, Donna Jackson of Morris Chapel, Tennessee and Chris Butler and his wife Sandra of Hardin County, Tennessee.
Along with her parents, Jan was preceded in death by her grandparents and special grandmother, Gertie McMurry.
