Janice Elaine Lawson Nixon was born on January 18, 1955, in Corinth, Mississippi, the daughter of the late Andrew T. and Norma Weeks Lawson.
A 1973 graduate of McNairy Central High School, Janice was united in marriage to Danny Odell Nixon on August 17, 1973. She attended Cypress Tank church of Christ.
Janice worked diligently as a homemaker, as Danny’s partner in farming and as an exceptional mother. She also served as office manager at Smith Metals Company from the time her children started school until she returned home to care for her parents.
Her smile brightened any room, and she demonstrated her love of the Lord by serving others. She loved cooking and planting. Her Thanksgiving breakfasts were legendary, and her flowers brightened the day for many who passed by their yard. Janice and Danny enjoyed adventures across the United States, traveling to 45 of them, in addition to Canada and Mexico. Most of all she loved her family. She was a wonderful daughter, wife, mother and “Nonnie,” who always put the needs of others above her own.
She passed from this life on May 14, at the age of 65, at her home in Ramer, Tennessee.
She is survived by Danny, her husband of 47 years, along with their daughters and sons-in-law: Lorie and John Clayton of Middleton, TN, and Melinda (Mindy) and Luke Rogers of Lenoir City, TN; and four beloved grandchildren: Joey and Caelan Clayton, and Addison and Briley Rogers.
