Janice Louise Paulk

Janice Louise Paulk departed this life on Sunday, July 25, 2021, at the age of 79. She was born to the late Thomas Ancil Hinton and Virginia Louise Hinton Reed in Waterloo, Alabama on Dec 29, 1941.

She was united in marriage to Larry W. Paulk, on Oct. 18, 1964.

For a large part of her life, Janice was a military spouse accompanying her husband on many different assignments both domestic and abroad until his retirement in 1980 from the United States Air Force. She then returned to Savannah where she worked until retirement in the Hardin County Clerk’s Office.

Deeply grounded in her faith throughout her life, Janice was a founding member of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Savannah, Tennessee, where she served in numerous leadership positions over the years and helped the church grow from a dozen members to hundreds.

Janice was an avid gardener, often found tending her flowers and shrubs in her yard. She also enjoyed doing genealogical research on her family tree, working crossword and jigsaw puzzles, and shopping on Amazon.

She is survived by her husband Larry W. Paulk, brother, Tommy Hinton and his wife Jean Marie of Arlington, Tennessee; son Michael Paulk and his wife Shauna of Bedford, Texas, and daughter Lori Paulk Magness and her husband Charles of Savannah, Georgia; grandchildren, Edwin Paulk of Bedford, Texas, and Lauren Amman and Emily Amman of Savannah, Georgia as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Janice was preceded in death by her father, Ancil Hinton; mother, Louise Hinton Reed, nephew, Benjamin Thomas Hinton; great-nephew, Benjamin Noah Stracener; aunts, Mervee Benson, Olean Shutt, Gertie Craig; and her uncles, Willard Tune and John Dee Tune.

The family requires that masks be worn during visitation and funeral service.

Services will be held on July 31, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Savannah, Tennessee, with Daniel Holt officiating. Burial will follow in the Memory Gardens at Savannah, Tennessee.
