Jeff Lewis of Henderson, TN: Jeffrey David Lewis, age 52, died in his sleep Monday night at his home.
Mr. Lewis was born in Lewisburg, PA and grew up in Middleburg, PA graduating from Middleburg High School. He received an Associate’s Degree from Ohio Valley College in Parkersburg WV. He graduated from Freed-Hardeman University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Mathematics and earned a Master of Science in Mathematics from the University of Memphis.
He married Paula Stricklin in 1987 and they made their home in Selinsgrove, PA where he taught middle school math for eighteen years. They moved to Henderson in 2005. He taught junior high math for one year and then moved to Chester County High School where he taught math. He was the voice of the Eagles, being the public address announcer for football, basketball, and softball. He had taught in the theater department at CCHS and was the BETA Club and Mu Alpha Theta sponsor, along with being the Senior Class sponsor. He loved and cared for his students. He taught summer school, tutored, and taught dual enrollment classes for Jackson State and Freed-Hardeman University. He had also taught adjunct at Freed-Hardeman.
Jeff loved the Lord. He led singing at the South Jackson Church of Christ where he was a member, help lead the 6 AM Sunday morning worship services, and taught Bible class. He organized and led worship services at Henderson Health Care for several years. He had a positive and upbeat attitude about life.
He is survived by his wife Paula Lewis of Henderson, daughter Kira Leann Lewis of Orlando, FL, son Nathaniel D. Lewis of Jackson, his parents David Herman and Linda Carnahan Lewis of Branson, MO and two brothers; Michael Lewis of Highland Village, TX and Timothy Lewis of Edmond, OK.
Memorial services will be 3:00 PM Sunday at the Estes Church of Christ with Ray Pack, Ricky Catlett, and Michael Showers officiating. Burial will be in Huntington, WV at a later date.
The family will receive friends at the Estes Church building beginning at 1:00 PM.
