Jerrey Thurston was born August 31, 1938 in McCracken County, KY, the son of the late Claude Coy and Lorene Sweet Thurston. Jerrey departed this life on September 12, 2018 in Stantonville, Tennessee at the age of 80 years.
Jerrey had a life long passion for serving Christ in all that he did. He was an ordained minister and served the Lord in many capacities throughout his life. He helped start local churches in many cities, lead young pastors as they started new churches, trained church members in discipleship and evangelism, supported missionaries and their work, and used his voice to glorify God in song and in leading worship. He served our country overseas in the United States Army, was a beloved baseball coach for many years, and was a loving and proud grandfather. He retired before moving to Stantonville, TN and was a member of West Shiloh Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, Jerrey was preceded in death by his wife, Rita Thurston. He is survived by a daughter, Tracie Davis of Birmingham, AL; a son, Jerrey A. Thurston and wife Rhonda of Orlando, FL; a sister, Shirley Simmons of Lutz, FL; and three grandchildren: Ainsley and Ashley Thurston, and Camden Davis.
