    Jerry Wacker

    October 18, 1937 - December 15, 2021

    Gerald (Jerry) Wacker passed from this life Wednesday, December 15th at Christian Care Center in Bolivar. He was born in Mt. Carroll, Illinois, Monday, October 18, 1937, son of the late Donald W. Wacker and Mabel Zink Wacker and lived in Haywood County prior to living in Hardeman County and the Hornsby area for the past 25 years. He graduated from Mt Carroll High School and entered the US Navy, serving for four years. During his lifetime, his work career was in purchasing and warehousing. He was a member of Hornsby Baptist Church. His hobbies included golfing, duck hunting, and he was a big fan of the Tennessee Vols and Chicago Cubs. He is survived by his wife, Vernell Wacker, whom he married on April 26, 1997; two daughters, Lori Murphy (Mitch) of Lavonia, GA and Vicki Sullivan (Bill) of Brownsville; two sons, Bobby Doyle (Shelia) of Hornsby and Richard Doyle (Denise) of Chewalla, TN; two sisters, Shirley Gray of Freeport, IL and Donna Watson (Larry) of Stantonville, TN; a son in law, Mike Spoon of Halls, TN; 8 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Ronna Spoon. Memorial contributions in his name may be sent to the Alzheimer's Association (www.alz.org/donate) or Hornsby Baptist Church.
