Mr. Dorris passed away Friday night, January 11, 2019 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
He was born, raised and lived his entire life in Hardeman County. His parents were the late W. W. and Cressie Wilson Dorris and he was also preceded in death by three sisters, Mary Willis, Jo Shearon and Brenda Dorris; and a brother, W. C. Dorris.
A 1964 graduate of Grand Junction High School, Mr. Dorris married Becky Galloway on June 29, 1979. He worked as a self-employed carpenter and served in the Tennessee National Guard from 1966-1976. He was a member of the New Union Baptist Church near Medon.
He leaves his wife, Becky A. Dorris of Toone; three daughters, Donna Marie Fesmire of Jackson, Selena Kay Thompson (Neal) of Beech Bluff and Tina Azbill (Jimmy) of Jackson; three sons, Jerry Wayne Dorris of Selmer, J. David Dorris, II (Kris) of Jackson and Brett Howell (Jennifer) of Springfield, TN; three sisters, Delores Gooch (Bennie) of Opelika, AL, Sarah Smith (Randy) of Hernando, MS and Gail Harris (Woody) of Riverton, UT; one brother, Paul Wayne Dorris of Toone; fifteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
