Jewell F. Shearon

Mr. Shearon passed away at his home Thursday, September 12, 2019.
He was the son of the late Leonard Franklin Shearon and Mary Inez Prince Shearon. He attended school in Hardeman County and on August 12, 1951 was united in marriage to Madge Marie Bass in Corinth, MS. The Shearon's were married for 64 years prior to her passing on July 23, 2016.
Jewell worked as an owner/operator in the grocery business for over 50 years and, after his retirement, loved to work at Bolivar Memorial Cemetery which he did for 20 years. A life-long resident of Hardeman County, Mr. Shearon was a member of the Porter's Creek Baptist Church where he would greet everyone at the door for services. In his leisure time, he could be found gardening, canning fruits and vegetables (especially pear preserves) and bottling feeding baby calves. In his later years, Mr. Shearon enjoyed spending time with his dogs, Cassie and Stitches.
He leaves his daughter, Debbie Shearon Stewart of Pocahontas; two sons, Jackie (Marion) Shearon of Middleton and Chris Shearon of Hornsby; his sister, Diane Shearon Travis (Randy) of Saulsbury; four grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Shearon was preceded in death by a son, Dwight Shearon; a granddaughter, Lori Shearon Hughes; two sisters, Shirley Ann Perkins and Pattie Jane Shearon; and three brothers, Billy Joe, John Robert and Lee Allen Shearon.
