Jim Pirtle, Sr., 82, of Bolivar, passed from this life Monday, December 27, 2021, at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville, NC.
The widower of Frances Pirtle, who died on March 17, 2020, after nearly 31 years of marriage, he was a self employed carpenter and later had worked for Bolivar Lumber Company. He was born Saturday, December 9, 1939, in Hardeman County, son of the late William Jesse Pirtle and Mary Tate Griggs Pirtle and lived his whole life in Hardeman County. He had lived in North Carolina for just a short while. He enjoyed painting pictures and building things and reading his Bible, but mostly loved being around his family, his church, and enjoying life. Mr. Pirtle was a member of Hatchie Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Kim Pirtle of Toone and Doreen Pirtle White of Whiteville; a son, Joseph Pirtle (Young-Mi) of Fayetteville, NC; two stepdaughters, Carole Shields Maynard (Jason) of Beech Bluff and Connie Davis (Billy) of Hornsby; and a stepson, James Shields (Rhonda) of Hornsby; 8 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Pirtle, Jr. and a stepson, Lynn Shields.
