JIM STEED

Henderson, TN: James Calier Steed age 89 passed away August 31, 2020 at West Tennessee Healthcare Dyersburg Hospital.

He was born in Memphis and grew up in Henderson, the son of the late Asa Calier and Ida Burnette Steed. He graduated from Chester County High School in 1950. He married Patsy Stewart in 1954. He was a livestock Auctioneer and worked at Grinnell Corp. He farmed all of his life, row cropping and raising cattle. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

He served in the Tennessee National Guard.

Mr. Steed is survived by his wife, Patsy Stewart Steed of Henderson; two sons, Dr. James Richard Steed (Alesia) of Bethel Springs and John Thomas Steed (Katherine) of Knoxville and two daughters, Susan Steed Winn (Edward) of Thompson Station, TN and Jeannie Steed Greathouse (Jeff) of Richmond, KY; eleven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Smith of Jackson.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Bill Steed.

Funeral services will be 4:00 PM Saturday, September 5th at First United Methodist Church with Tom Spellings officiating. Burial will follow in Henderson City Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 2 pm.
