Mr. Jim Witt, 69, of Middleton, passed away Tuesday evening, July 28, 2020 at Bolivar General Hospital.
A native of Douglas, KS, he was the son of the late Arnold Witt and Carrie Ann Willingham Witt, who survives. He served his country in the US Navy and retired from CCA after 10 years of service in perimeter security. Mr. Witt returned to live in Hardeman County in 1984 and had previously lived in Michigan and South Carolina. He was a member of Grace Apostolic Church near Rogers Springs and, in his leisure time, enjoyed repairing and restoring all types of automobiles (especially Volkswagens) and listening to music.
He leaves his wife, Sheila Witt of Middleton; two daughters, Amy Suzanne Nelson (Richard) of Tullahoma, TN and Kimberly Dawn Dalton of Kentucky; two sisters, Linda Nadasi of North Carolina and Becky Butler of Booneville, MS; one brother, Dewayne Witt (Vicky) of Buchanan, MI; three step-children, Jeremy McCaskill (Heather) of Bolivar, Crystal Mercer of Kossuth, MS and Penny Dickerson (Dewayne) of Falkner, MS; nine step-grandchildren, Emily, Natalie, Alyssa, Katelynn and Nicolas Gentry, Hailey Howell, Kyleson and Cori Mercer and Bentley McCaskill; two step-great-grandchildren, Maverick Watson and Dusty Rose Howell; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
When attending visitation or services for Mr. Witt, please consider the following guidelines:
* Maintain 6 feet between yourself and the next closest person;
* Refrain from hugs and handshakes;
* When you sneeze or cough, use your elbow to cover your nose and mouth;
* Wash your hands often;
* Avoid touching your face; and
* Minimize time spent in places where people gather.
