Jimmy Ray Crowell was born at home in Milledgeville, Tennessee on February 10, 1957, the son of the late J. C. and Geraldine Williams Crowell. He was the second to youngest sibling of five other brothers and sisters. They grew up on a farm and all pitched in to help the family at early ages.
Jimmy had a beloved horse named "Red" that he would take riding after school as a boy. He would often get thrown off but was always willing to hop back on.
Jimmy attended Sardis High School and graduated in 1975. He grew up loving and playing many sports but especially excelled at baseball and basketball. He spent many a day talking baseball with his mother who shared the passion deeply. He also enjoyed playing pool.
After high school at only 18 years old, Jimmy got a job at Aqua Glass and worked there for 17 years. In 1993, Jimmy went onto work at Praxis Industries where he stayed until present. Throughout his time with the company Jimmy met and considered many of his coworker's family.
Jimmy Ray Crowell departed this life on August 19, 2021 in Morris Chapel, Tennessee at the age of 64 years, 6 months, and 9 days.
He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Sherrie Crowell of Morris Chapel, Tennessee; children, Jamey Crowell of Morris Chapel, Tennessee, Josh Floyd of Counce, Tennessee, and Amanda Smith and her husband Mike of Chattanooga, Tennessee; grandchildren, Taylor Floyd, Hunter Floyd, Emma Floyd, and Jimmie Floyd; brothers, Nelson Crowell and his wife Maxine of Humboldt, Tennessee and Jerry Crowell of Enville, Tennessee; and sisters, Nancy Cates and her husband Poodle of Brownsville, Tennessee, Peggy Scott of Decaturville, Tennessee, and Darlene Shutt and her husband Ronnie of Scotts Hill, Tennessee.
