Joe Martin Ozment was born September 13, 1930 in Selmer, TN the son of the late Joseph Oscar and Lora Mae Ozment.
He was united in marriage to Audrey Mae Sipes on January 15, 1951. Mrs. Ozment preceded him in death on May 23, 2006.
Mr. Ozment served his country honorably in the United States Marine Corp Reserve from October 1950 to June 1954 attached to VMF 124, NARTC, NAS, a figher squadron in the Marine forces reserve based out of Naval Air Station, Memphis flying A-4 Skyhawk. He left the Marine Reserves only to be placed in the United States Army in June 1954 to June 1956 attached to 937 Engineer Company Aviation at Fort Kobbe, CZ. He was the crew chief on flights in the Panama Canal Zone for the Army. He was very proud of his service to his country.
Mr. Ozment earned a BS degree in aerospace engineering in 1959 from Northup University in Inglewood, CA. He was a aeronautical engineer-structural analyst from June 1956 to June 1989 for North American Aviation which is now part of Boeing. He worked in Los Angeles, Palmdale and Edwards Air Force Base. He was a member of Lancaster Lodge (F&AM) #437 California, American Legion Post 262 in Selmer, TN, a life member of Good Sam RV club, Senior Circle at McNairy Regional Hospital and Selmer Senior Center. He was an active member for many years at First United Methodist Church in Selmer.
Mr. Ozment departed this life on January 1, 2019 in Corinth, Mississippi at the age of 88 Years, 3 Months, 19 Days. He is survived by two sons, David Glen Ozment of Palmdale, CA, Dwight Anthony (Tony) Ozment and wife Linda of Selmer, TN; four grandchildren, Amanda Kyrn (Ozment) Marquez of Palmdale, CA, Zachary David Ozment of Palmdale, CA, Lucas Maynard Ozment and wife Aimee of Jackson, TN, Justin Nathanial Ozment of Wichita, KS; seven great grandchildren, Matthew Alexander Marquez of Palmdale, CA, James Franz Marquez of Palmdale, CA, Joseph Martin Ozment of Palmdale, , Audrey Mae Ozment of Palmdale, CA, Brian Ozment of Jackson, TN, Trey Anthony Ozment, Shaun Parker Ozment; and a host of exended family and friends.
