Joe W. Cofer

Joe W. Cofer, age 91 of Bolivar, passed from this life early Saturday morning, August 5, 2017.
Mr. Cofer was born November 18, 1925 to Walter and Lola Burnette Cofer of Hornsby, TN. He served in the Army during WWII and married Miss Johnnie E. Harvell on July 13, 1947. Mr. Cofer became a leather finisher and prior to working with Armira Tannery had lived in Michigan and Wisconsin. He was considered the "original" flipper as he loved to renovate and resell houses. He was a "jack of all trades" who loved to restore old cars, particularly Volkswagon "Bugs." For a time, he and his family resided in Milan, TN and attended the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He was a Mason.
Survivors include a daughter Regina Boldt and her husband Ralph of Waukeshia, WI; a son Rick Cofer and his wife Nancy of Altus, OK; four grandchildren, Sally (Max) Cookson, Rebecca (Paul) Roberts, Matthew (Lauren) Boldt and Christopher Boldt; five great-grandchildren, Eli, Cora Sue, and Hannah Roberts, Gabriel Cookson, and Collin Boldt; and a great-nephew Joseph Anderson. In addition to his parents and his wife, he is preceded in death by three sisters, Lucy Howell, Beatrice Hodge, and Annie Mae Kirk; and by one brother Eugene Cofer.
