John Thomas Cartlidge, 66, of Middleton departed this life Saturday, July 14, 2018 at Bolivar General Hospital.
The husband of Betty Spicer Cartlidge, who survives, he worked as an LPN for Arlington Developmental Center prior to becoming disabled and retired in 2006. He had also worked for Western Mental Health Institute as a tech before acquiring his LPN license. He was born March 27, 1952 in St. Louis, MO, son of the late John Peyton Cartlidge and Doris Marie Gross Cartlidge and lived in the Middleton area for around 40 years. He met his wife, Betty, while in nursing school at Whiteville Vo-Tech, and they married on August 7, 1992. He enjoyed fishing and cooking bar-be-que, but especially loved being around his grandchildren. He held a special place in his heart for children everywhere.
In addition to his wife, survivors include 3 daughters, Nikki Hoskins of Somerville, Jennifer Mayfield of Bolivar and Katie Cartlidge of Middleton; 3 sons, John Ed Cartlidge of Ramer, Brian and Jason Davis, both of Memphis; 10 grandchildren, Brianna, Samantha, Alex, Lincoln, Casey, Rylin, Jaclyn, Addyson, Jonathan and Rebecca; and one great grandson, Jace. He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 sisters, Diane McDonnell and Mary Glover. The family requests memorial donations in his name be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
