John Stivers

John Stivers was born June 25, 1938 in Bethel Springs, TN the son of the late Thomas H. and Essie Pearl Jenkins Stivers.

He was united in marriage to Shirley Fowler on February 28, 1987.

Mr. Stivers retired from Harmon. He served in the Army National Guard for 20 years. He was a member of the Full Gospel Fellowship Church in Bethel Springs, Tennessee. Mr. Stivers never met a stranger. He enjoyed watching TV, going for a walk, talking to and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and he loved dearly loved all of them.

Mr. Stivers is survived by his wife Shirley Stivers of Bethel Springs, TN; step-children, Jackie Kiestler and wife Brenda, James Kiestler and wife Sally, and Vickie Saxton and boyfriend Julian Fortune; grandchildren, Ashley Kiestler and boyfriend Johnathan Patterson, David Saxton, Chris Kiestler and wife Lorie, Travis Kiestler and his girlfriend Jordan Elder, Farris Saxton, Sara Gibson and husband Alan Michael, Desirae Saxton, Matthew Kiestler and fiancee Megan Anthony; great-grandchildren, Addison Kiestler, Kinsely Kiestler, Brooklynn Patterson, Chloe Newell, Paisley Patterson, and Madison Kiestler.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Stivers was preceded in death by a sister, Melva Coleman and a half-sisters, Marie Walls and Helen Sullivan.

Services will be held on June 20, 2020 at 3:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Selmer, Tennessee, with David Paseur officiating. Burial will follow in the New Salem Cemetery at Bethel Springs, Tennessee.
