John Thomas Cummings was born on September 23, 1944 in the Smith Fork community of Hardin County, Tennessee, the son of the late Arthur and Zada Bell Murphy Cummings. He departed this life on November 21, 2019 in Savannah, Tennessee at the age of 75 years, 1 month, and 29 days.
Tom, as he was known by many, enjoyed deer hunting, gardening, logging, playing checkers, and spending time with his family. He spent time working as an auctioneer and especially enjoyed working with his wife Diane at their produce stand in Savannah, Tennessee.
He is survived by his sons, Scotty Cummings (Becky Berry) of Savannah, Tennessee and Tony Cummings (Pierre Robinson) of Savannah, Tennessee; sister, Charlyne Franks; grandchildren, Cassie Cummings McClain and her husband Dave, Tera Casteel, and Tyler Cummings and his wife Callianne; great grandchildren, Tatum Casteel, Talyn Casteel, Greyson Haggard, and Mary Evelyn McClain; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Diane Hime Cummings; brothers, Silas "Bo" Cummings and Jake Cummings; and sisters, Lillian Franks and Kathleen Cummings Burleson.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Sherry Malone for the countless hours she spent with Diane; including all the Wal-Mart trips, outings, and time she spent visiting with Diane and Johnny at their home.
And also a special thank you to Judy Brown, Janie Cummins, Wanda Wilkerson, and Pierre Robinson for all of the many things they did for Johnny and Diane.
