JOSEPH DURRANCE
Selmer, TN: Joseph Lynn Durrance, age 74 passed away Thursday morning, June 14, 2018 at his home.
He was born September 10, 1943 in Jackson, TN the son of the late Joseph Lonnie and Marie Massey Durrance. He went to school in Jackson and graduated from Chester County High School in 1962. He entered the U.S. Airforce in 1962 and served in the Air Patrol in Germany and Japan. He began working with UPS in 1966 and married Nancy Patterson in 1969. He was very dedicated to his UPS job and advanced to management quickly. They lived in Jackson, Memphis and Selmer since 1980. He retired in 1994 and they traveled extensively with family, which he thoroughly enjoyed.
He received his Brown Belt in Karate just two years ago. He received the Fighting Spirit Award two weeks ago from Thomas Cauley, Chief International Karate instructor.
Mr. Durrance is survived by his wife, Nancy Elizabeth Patterson Durrance of Selmer; two sons, Jason Durrance of Selmer and Justin Durrance (Tanya) of Batesville, MS; a daughter, Molly Elizabeth Durrance of Selmer; five grandchildren, Abbey Durrance, Lane Durrance, Cason Durrance, Bryan Hamblin and Jordan Pritchard and a brother, Ricky Durrance of Crockett Mills, TN.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Donald Durrance and Van Durrance.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Saturday, June 16, 2018 at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue with Jerry Michael Williams and Joey Johnson officiating. Burial will follow with Military Honors in Cave Springs Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Friday.
