Mrs. Josephine Hinson, age 89, the widow of Guy Hinson, passed away at her home near Mifflin Saturday night February 27, 2021.
Zelma Josephine Jacobs Hinson was born January 29, 1932 in Dyess, AR the daughter of the late William Lester and Zelma Lee Counts Jacobs. Her family moved to Memphis during WWII, and then to Chester County when she was twelve years old. She attended Chester County High School. She married Guy Hinson December 10, 1949. She worked as a cook at East Elementary School for twenty Five years, retiring in 2003. Mr. Hinson preceded in death in 2001.
She loved gardening, cooking, canning, and baking. When she was younger she enjoyed riding horses and skiing.
She is survived by a son Rick Hinson (Christine) of Breeze, IL and two daughters Linda Barker of Selina, TN and Joyce Ann Hinson of Fort Worth, TX, four grandchildren; Carrie Reeves, Janice Moore Martin, Angela Hinson, and Nick Hinson, and seven great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son Garry Hinson and four brothers; William Jacobs, Charles Jacobs, Ray Jacobs, and Dannie Jacobs.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, March 6th at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue with Ricky Tedford officiating. Burial will follow in Unity Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Friday.
