Joy Maynard, 54, of Jackson, departed this life Friday, December 11 at her home.
The wife of Kirby Maynard, who survives, she was a manager at Dollar Tree and had formerly been a cashier and manager at Fast Lane in Jackson. She was born Friday, February 18, 1966 in Bolivar, the daughter of Frances Stanfield Dorris of Jackson and the late Carlis Gene Dorris and lived in Hardeman County prior to moving to Madison County. She enjoyed singing gospel music with her family, was a seasoned pianist and loved her 'fur baby', Peanut. Mrs. Maynard was a member of Calvary United Pentecostal Church.
In addition to her husband, whom she married on January 11, 2002, and her mother, she is survived by a sister, Brittany Wood (Jeff) of Jackson; a brother, Tony Dorris of Byhalia, MS; two sister in laws, Peggy Bates (Larry) of Jackson and Chris Beasley Maynard; several nieces & nephews; and two aunts, Brenda Johnson and Joan Meeks (David). In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a brother, Lee Dorris; her paternal grandparents, Rev. Lacy Dorris & Annie Lee Carmichael Dorris; and her maternal grandparents, Jack Stanfield and Ruby Floyd Stanfield and her mother in law, Linda Widener.
