Judith Boaz Spears

Judith Boaz Spears, age 73, went to be with Jesus on August 7, 2019. She was born on February 26, 1946 in Memphis, Tennessee to Massey Oakley Boaz and Ruby Doran Boaz, both of whom predeceased her. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Bill Boaz, and husband, Jack Spears.

She leaves one son and daughter-in-law, James Kendrick Venable, Jr./Cara Rathbun Venable, one daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly Venable McMillin/Michael Lee McMillin, four grandchildren, Brennan Lee McMillin and wife Jacqueline Russell McMillin, James Hunter McMillin, Catherine Elizabeth Venable (Cate), James Kendrick Venable, III (Jake) and one great-grandson, Alexander Lee McMillin (Xander).

Judy loved to entertain, dance and throw hors d'oeuvres parties, always providing a large spread of homemade goodies. She enjoyed chocolate, picnics, exploring nature, wildflowers and her beautiful view of the Smokey Mountains from her condo. She was a dental hygienist, working for Dr. John Gallien in her hometown of Savannah before moving to Memphis and working with her husband - and when she retired from that occupation she opened her own retail wholesale company of baby clothing and custom women’s accessories.

She had a great sense of humor and a feisty attitude. Her daily prayer routine took up many hours of her morning and she developed her own prayer ministry for prisoners. She truly loved the Lord and instilled Christian beliefs into the lives of her children and grandchildren, whom she absolutely adored.

Judy was blessed with a beautiful singing voice which she offered as comfort for hospice patients. In lieu of flowers the family ask donations be made in honor of her memory to Avalon Hospice -121 N. Henderson Avenue - Sevierville, TN 37862 as a continuation of her ministry.
