Junior Burns was born on May 28, 1936 in Cypress Inn, Tennessee, the son of the late William Josire and Annie Canzadie Martin Burns. On July 17, 1954, he was united in marriage to Iva Ruth Crosslin Burns, who preceded him in death on September 3, 2018.
Junior was a member of the Walnut Grove Church of Christ in Savannah, Tennessee. Throughout his life, he worked at Robin's Tire & Rubber Company, Techstone, Inc., Bevis Church of Christ in Lutts, Tennessee for 20 years, and was self employed as a farmer. Junior was a very good carpenter and built many birdhouses, windmills, and miniature barns.
Junior Burns departed this life on August 23, 2020 in Jackson, Tennessee at the age of 84 years, 2 months, and 26 days.
He is survived by his daughters, June Highland and her husband David, and Janet Rich and her husband Jerry, all of Savannah, Tennessee; sons, Charles Burns and his wife Mary of Florence, Alabama, Carl Burns of Savannah, Tennessee, and Gary Burns and his wife Melissa of Florence, Alabama; sisters, Dorothy Henson and Anita West, both of Florence, Alabama; brothers, Alfred Burns of Selmer, Tennessee, Nolan Burns of Florence, Alabama, Wayford Burns of Florence, Alabama, and Preston Burns of Florida; 22 grandchildren; several great and great great grandchildren; and a special dog named Bama.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Ruth Burns and Ovidale Whitten; brother, Clifton Burns; and 2 grandchildren.
