Katie Lou Russell Vickers, age 91 of Middleton, passed away Monday, Decemeber 3, 2018, at McNairy County Health Care Center in Selmer, TN.
She was born in Tippah County, MS to the late William Lossen and Emma Lou Davis Russell and lived her entire life in Hardeman County. She is also preceded in death by her husband, H. B. Vickers; her son, William "Sonny" Vickers; and her daughter, Linda Kirk.
On September 9, 1944, she was united in marriage to Mr. Vickers and worked as a homemaker. Mrs. Vickers was baptized on July 27, 1957 at Brint's Chapel Baptist Church by Bro. James Howell. In later years, she attended the Porter's Creek Baptist Church. In her leisure time, she enjoyed fishing, collecting arrowheads, quilting, traveling and gardening.
She leaves five grandchildren, Barbara (Tony) Maloy, Kenneth (Mendy) Vickers, Laura (Mike) Downen, Michael Kirk and John (Melinda) Kirk; ten great-grandchildren, Kristy (Brian) Owens, Rachel (Alex Gibson) Maloy, Thomas Maloy, Joshua and Dillon McQueen, Sydney Downen, Matthew (Jessica) Kirk, Megan (Ben) Howell, John Clifton Kirk and Jacob Kirk; four great-great-grandchildren, Colby and Danica McQueen, Vivian Owens, Conley Kirk and "one on the way."; her sister, Jamie Caudle of Warner Robbins, GA; daughter-in-law, Doris Vickers; and son-in-law, Houston Kirk.
