Kaye Frances Martin Meek of Oakland/Somerville, TN, formerly of Memphis and Savannah, TN was born February 19, 1944 in Hardin County, daughter of the late Homer Martin and Annie Merle Martin. She departed this life on May 15, 2019.
Mrs. Meek was preceded in death by her husband, William Robert “Bill” Meek, sister, Eloise Russell (Dub) of Mulberry, Florida, sister Jean Wolfe (Robert) of Savannah, TN and brother-n-law, Dr. Curtis F. Lard, Sr. of College Station, TX.
She is survived by her sister, Anna Kathleen (Jimmie Ann) Lard of College Station, TX, many nieces and nephews, Sandy Russell, Ginny Roper, Linda Russell, and Jimmy Russell of Florida, Robaya Wolfe Ellis of Savannah, Kim Wolfe Nelson of Kansas City, MO, Deborah Krager and Curtis Lard, Jr. of Houston, Darryl Lard of Dallas, and Patricia Lard of College Station, TX.
She graduated from Central High School in Savannah in 1962. She married Bill on January 25, 1964 and lived in Memphis and worked at Sears and Roebuck, Walgreens, and Woolworth’s. Later she became office manager for the medical practice of Guyton and Katz in Memphis, and finished out her working career being employed by the United States Post Office in Oakland/Rossville, TN. In 1987, they moved to Rossville, TN. She was an avid reader, a devoted Jeopardy fan, collected old books, coins, and antiques, loved to cook, raise a garden and grow beautiful flowers, and feed all the hummingbirds.
