Kimberly C. Atkins departed this life on Saturday, June 18, 2022, at the age of 62 years, 1 month, and 12 days. She was born in Hardin County, Tennessee, on May 6, 1960, the daughter of the late Author Lee and Mattie Mae Winters Jackson. On June 14, 1988, she was united in marriage to Ray Neal Atkins, who preceded her in death on August 28, 2008.
Kimberly was employed with Wal-Mart for over 20 years, and was a member of St. Mark Baptist Church and Sisters Impacting Savannah. She was truly beautiful inside and out, always carrying a smile on her face and speaking kind words to others.
Kimberly is survived by her children, Charay Atkins and Cardiss Atkins, both of Savannah, Tennessee; granddaughter, Kiley R. Hendrix; sisters, Sharon D. Jackson and Charma S. Jackson; brothers, James L. Jackson, David L. Jackson, Dorris L. Collins, and Jackie B. Collins; aunts, Juanita Frye and Vernetta Howell; great aunt, Wilma Bumphus; sisters-in-law, Diane Johnson, Laura Wilson (Frederick), and Brenda Siner (Henry); and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Kimberly was preceded in death by a sister, Marie Atkinson, brothers, Delmar M. Jackson and Tracy C. Dixon; father and mother-in-law, O'neal and Tina Atkins; brothers-in-law, Lonnie Atkins and Charles Atkins; and sister-in-law, Renae Atkins.
